The École des Ponts Business School encourages participants to pursue research opportunities during or in parallel to their MBA program. The MBA pedagogy actively encourages a strong research orientation amongst its participants throughout the year, but especially as part of the Professional Project phase which is a graduation requirement. The Professional Project is a focused application of the management skills acquired during the fall and spring semesters of the École des Ponts MBA program.
The majority of these projects are produced for and/or with corporate partners and are most often confidential in nature. Increasingly the School is working with corporate partners for joint-research initiatives that may be the object of in-house or publicly-distributed publications.

The initial version of this publication was researched and prepared by Rebecca Meurice-Carlucci, Mamati Gladys Tembe and Sarvani Vempati, during their École des Ponts MBA, under the supervision of Asst. Dean Alon Rozen, Revital Marom, the Director of Marketing Consumer Insight (MCI) at Alcatel-Lucent, and Smirt Tapias-Collins, Sr. Strategic Marketing and Consumer Insight Expert at ALU. École des Ponts Business School was asked to participate in an on-going research initiative led by Debbie Fisher, Sr. Strategic Marketing and Consumer Insight Expert at Alcatel-Lucent. Rayan Abduljabbar not only joined the initiative but took a leading role in helping to develop the project in the Gulf Region, especially in Saudi Arabia where he led interviews, did research and helped write a special report on two smart cities - King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). In addition, Rayan was part of the video production and contributed a blog entry on the subject which can be accessed here. The project was completed under the supervision of Asst. Dean Alon Rozen, Revital Marom, the Director of Marketing Consumer Insight (MCI) at Alcatel-Lucent, and in close cooperation with the ALU project leader, Debbie Fisher.
The initial version of this publication, entitled Device-ology, was researched and written by Mylene Dao and Smirt Collins, Sr. Strategic Marketing and Consumer Insight Expert at ALU, during her École des Ponts MBA, under the supervision of Asst. Dean Alon Rozen and and Revital Marom, the Director of Marketing Consumer Insight (MCI) at ALU, in November 2012. A follow-up blog entry on Alcatel-Lucent's Megatrends "live research" website and blog by Assistant Dean Alon Rozen on the Ed-You-Cation megatrend which is one of the 8 megatrends initially identified by Rebecca Meurice-Carlucci, Mamati Gladys Tembe and Sarvani Vempati, during their École des Ponts MBA and the initial research project. Another of the megatrends has been further developed from the original Megatrends report by Revital Marom and her Marketing Consumer Insight (MCI) team at Alcatel-Lucent. The concept has been developed into a multimedia and rich-content document entitled "Opportunities without Borders: Realizing the promise of Neo-Urbanization" and available in both an e-book and flip-book format.
